The difference between email marketing and marketing automation
Marketing automation and Email marketing software tools are not the same. The mix-up may stem from the fact that email is such an essential tool for most marketing activities, which is why there are so many solutions available that include an emailing component. From that point of view, marketing automation is in part an email marketing tool. Although these platforms do share some common ground, they are not the same.

Who doesn’t love receiving emails from their favorite sports teams? I know I definitely do! However, I’ve noticed that not all sports teams are created equal when it comes to a couple of key areas of email marketing, specifically the sign up process, automation and email design. So, here are four key things that professional sports teams could do tomorrow to improve their email programs.
Email face-off: Patagonia Vs North Face
The story of how the founders of Patagonia and The North Face, Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins, got started in life and both ended up starting two of the biggest outdoor clothing brands in the world is fascinating. The legend of how these two guys started these companies and lived their lives is truly epic, and I recommend watching 180 degrees south if you want to learn more about it. For now, though, let’s take a look at how their email marketing programs compare to each other in my first email faceoff!
It's time to spice up your email content
I don’t know about you, but I’ve become pretty desensitized to promotional emails after the recent holiday break. In fact, you could probably slap me over the head with a 99 percent discount, and I’d still ignore you. I’m just not in the mood for more shopping, no matter how good your sale might be!
Top re-engagement emails and some tips on how to reinvigorate your list
Re-engagement emails seem to be some of the most popular on Pinterest at the moment, with many of them being pinned, saved and viewed hundreds of times. This makes complete sense considering that it’s becoming harder and harder to keep a large audience engaged for long periods of time. It seems like there is a new mobile app or social website coming out every few months to further distract your subscribers.
How to Improve Your Order Confirmation Emails
It’s well known that order confirmation emails are some of the most widely opened, read, and clicked emails around. It’s the one type of email that you can almost guarantee will be opened or at least saved for later in case there is an issue with the order. Unfortunately, this type of email has traditionally been managed by the IT department which has often sent plain text receipts from a separate system that offers no tracking, limited HTML support, and no advanced personalization features.
Top 5 most popular emails on Pinterest
I’ve been pinning emails on Pinterest for a few years now and found it to be the perfect place to save and share the best designs and content ideas that land in my inbox. It seems that quite a few of you out there agree as I now have over 3000 followers across all of my boards and many of my pins have been saved and viewed thousands of times! So, thank you for that, I appreciate it. You can take a look at my boards here if you aren’t following them. Anyway, I was recently digging into the analytics that Pinterest provides and wanted to share some of the most popular emails I’ve ever pinned and take a look at why they might have caught people’s attention.
